on october 3, turkish local time, turkish president recep tayyip erdogan issued the no. 1608 presidential decree, approving the site of hunutlu thermal power plant of emba electricity production inc., invested and controlled by sep, as a special industrial zone of adana, turkey. the following day, it was officially issued in the form of no. 30908 official communique and came into effect.
sep hunutlu thermal power plant being approved as a special industrial zone is the first time for the central government of turkey to grant it to a power generation enterprise, which is of great significance for creating a good external environment for the construction of hunutlu project and improving the good brand image of chinese enterprises in turkey.
hunutlu thermal power plant project is located adana, the fifth largest city in turkey, dana, is a flagship project linking china's belt and road initiative with turkey's middle corridor plan, which involves the construction of two sets of 660 mw efficient and clean ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generating units, along with supporting construction of flue gas desulfurization and denitration equipment as well as the ports specially designed for coal transportation. with a total investment of about usd 1.7 billion, the project started site excavation in july 2018, poured the first can of concrete for the main power house in september 2019, and is expected to complete construction and go into operation in 2022.
