jiefang daily: sep dafeng offshore wind power project realizes remote full automatic control, independent inspection by drones
located in the waters north of liangyuesha sandbar, dafeng district, yancheng, jiangsu province, dafeng offshore wind power project is the first of its kind independently developed and constructed by sep under the flag of spic, which has become an offshore wind farm with the longest offshore distance in the yangtze river delta region. the project has installed 72 units of 4.2 mw wind turbines altogether, with a total installed capacity of 302.4 mw, annual utilization hours of about 2,792, and annual power generation of about 840 gwh.
the environmental benefits of offshore wind power cannot be underestimated. calculated on the basis of standard coal consumption of 315 g/kwh for thermal power generation, wind power could save 265,900 tons of standard coal every year, reduce emissions of co2, so2, nox, ash and dust by 683,900 tons, 6,780.61 tons, 5,826.43 tons, 106,400 tons, 2,553.49 tons respectively, in addition to reducing water consumption by 2,431,900 tons per year and decreasing the corresponding waste water and solid waste discharge. thanks to the power of science and technology, the offshore wind farm has achieved smart operation preliminarily.
to ensure the healthy operation of offshore wind turbines far at sea cannot do without the smart wind farm. when the offshore wind speed reaches 3 m/s, the wind turbines of dafeng offshore wind power project start to generate electricity; when the wind speed reaches 12 m/s, the power generation will arrive at full load; once the wind speed exceeds 25 m/s, the wind turbines will stop operation for protection. when to start up the wind turbines and when to stop them for protection are controlled remotely and fully automatically. the blades of the wind turbines are equipped with the "wind speed sensors". as the wind is unpredictable at sea, and each of the 72 wind turbines is subject to different wind force depending on its location. the wind speed of each wind turbine is displayed on the big screen of the central control center in real time. once it reaches the startup wind speed, the offshore wind turbine will start automatically, and once the wind becomes very weak or exceeds the specified speed, the wind turbine will also sense the change of wind speed and stop automatically.
this year, sep dafeng offshore wind power project plans to adopt the uav (unmanned aerial vehicle) technology to inspect the blades via high-speed camera. the drone independently completes the inspection task and transmits the image information back to the ground station. the ground station accepts the image information, and magnifies it for judgement. when it finds a suspicious point, it could magnify the picture to confirm the fault. for the high-definition image data that cannot be confirmed, it could be transmitted to the expert side for judgment, so that the fault diagnosis could be more reliable. meanwhile, the image data will be stored for a long time, in order to facilitate the comparison with historical inspection data after each blade inspection and provide valuable data for the whole life tracking mechanism of the blades.
