this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between china and turkey. since the two nations established strategic partnership in 2010, exchanges and cooperation in various fields have been progressing in an orderly manner.
in 2015, china and turkey signed a memorandum of understanding on connecting the belt and road initiative with turkey's middle corridor initiative, in a bid to inject new momentum for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and sharing cooperation achievements between the two countries. in recent years, the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries has borne fruitful results.
in adana, a southern city of turkey, hunutlu thermal power plant, an advanced power plant constructed by a chinese enterprise utilizing ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation technology, has been erected on the mediterranean coast. the project involves two 660 mw ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation units, and flue gas desulphurization and scr denitration systems will be constructed in the meantime, with emissions superior to eu standard and that for gas turbines. the first unit is scheduled to be put into operation in march 2022. the governor of adana province said that the construction of hunutlu power plant is progressing smoothly, and that the project is the benchmark of turkey-china investment cooperation and a key project of the in-depth connection between the belt and road initiative and the middle corridor initiative. "the pragmatic cooperation between turkey and china has demonstrated great resilience and potential."
at present, china-turkey relationship are in an important historical stage linking the past with the future, facing more development opportunities and broader space for development. by speeding up the alignment of development strategies and promoting the sustainable growth of strategic cooperation relationship, china and turkey will go hand in hand towards a more brilliant future.
