recently, national energy administration organized a selection of best practice cases of energy cooperation under the belt and road initiative, and sep mozura wind power project in montenegro achieved high scores from the judges and experts unanimously after a series of screening processes, and was chosen as the best practice case of energy cooperation under the bri.
the project has a total installed capacity of 46 mw and was put into operation at the end of 2019. with 126.18 gwh of electricity connected to the grid in 2020, the project generated a revenue of 11.98 million euros and a total profit of 2.14 million euros. the project was praised by the former maltese prime minister as "a win-win model of economic and trade cooperation between malta and china". in his speech at the eighth leaders' meeting of china and central and eastern european countries, chinese premier li keqiang lauded mozura wind power project, a tripartite cooperation between montenegro, china and malta, as a new achievement of "17 1" cooperation. moreover, the case of sep's energy investment in malta was selected into the annual report of overseas sustainable development of chinese enterprises in 2017 jointly compiled by united nations development programme, sasac research center and chinese academy of international trade and economic cooperation of ministry of commerce, and was released at the belt and road forum. the commercial operation of the project assisted montenegro in achieving its renewable energy target ahead of schedule.
